RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT SERVICES
Childplace has five buildings on our Jeffersonville campus that operate under three distinct licenses. Childplace Main has a 30-bed, staff-secure, open residential program that is equipped to work with youth experiencing diverse issues and significant challenges. Additionally, the agency has a 6-bed standalone program that provides residential treatment for male clients with a history of sexually maladaptive behavior—the SMY program is structured around the philosophy and modality of the University of Louisville’s Juvenile Sexual Offender Counselor Certification Program. The Bales Cottage for Girls has been a 10-bed facility on the Childplace Campus for over 15 years—this program provides a highly-structured maternity and transitional living program for expectant mothers, young mothers with children, and older adolescent girls in transition.
Childplace North operates under its own license at our Sellersburg campus. The facility is a 16-bed, staff-secure, residential program equipped to work with males, aged 10-20, who have mild to moderate developmental delays/intellectual disabilities. The program focuses on individualized care and treatment to maximize each resident’s positive, healthy development.
Clients in any of the aforementioned residential programs have the ability to attend Childplace’s on-grounds school, which is a collaborative endeavor with Greater Clark County and West Clark School Systems, or one of the other schools in the community. In addition, residential clients receive individual, family and group therapy provided by Childplace Counseling Services, as well as ongoing assessment and oversight by a full-time psychiatrist employed by Childplace.
Foster Care Services
Childplace trains and oversees a number of high-quality, licensed foster families in the Southern Indiana community. In addition to the attention and support provided by foster care staff, Childplace foster families have the benefit of resourcing the services of other Childplace programs as well, which often provides a beneficial continuum of support for high-need clients requiring assistance and access to specialized services.

RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT SERVICES Childplace Counseling Services provides services to children, adolescents, families, and adults in the Southern Indiana community. With seven, master-level licensed clinicians, credentialed in social work, family therapy, addictions, and psychiatry, Childplace Counseling Services provides therapy, psychiatric assessments, and medication management to numerous clients associated with the Indiana Department of Child Services and/or Probation. The counseling center accepts Indiana Medicaid insurance and maintains a contract with the Indiana Department of Child Services when Medicaid or alternative payment is not available. For DCS and Probation clients, the center provides therapy and physician oversight as they potentially transition through various levels of care at Childplace. This allows for a continuity of care and is extremely beneficial in assisting clients to stabilize through potentially stressful transitions; and often, clients continue to remain connected with their Childplace therapists and/or the agency’s full-time psychiatrist after they transition home or into a permanent placement.
IN-HOME SERVICES
Childplace In-Home Program provides services to families through contracts with the Indiana Department of Child Services and juvenile probation, including: Home-Based Therapy, Home-Based Casework, Homemaker/Parent Aide, and Visitation Facilitation. Our service area is Region 18- Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Scott, and Washington counties.
Services are provided in a variety of settings from home to school and community sites, such as parks, libraries, and restaurants. Visitation facilitation can occur at the therapeutic level and be provided at various supervision levels based on need (full supervision, standard supervision, intermittent supervision, and dual supervision). Our facility offers private, video-monitored visitation space, a full gym, and green space for play.
In-Home staff members are skilled at working with families as they seek to overcome obstacles that have prevented them from functioning at their healthiest, most successful level. Our staff use a trauma-informed care approach, which seeks to understand and interpret the “why” behind behavior. Our In-Home Program embraces the mission of Childplace, Inc. and uses an individual, client-centered approach to build on strengths and reinforce the inherent worth and dignity of each individual served.
Indiana Adoption Program Home Study Assessments
Childplace has a community-based contract with the Indiana Department of Child Services to conduct home study assessments for families who are pursuing adoption through the Indiana Adoption Program (IAP). Childplace staff are trained and certified in the Structured Analysis Family Evaluation (SAFE) model.
